Hard Hats (Business-Building Alliance)

Document Actions
Whenever a commercial or residential building is built or torn down, bought or sold, rented or vacated, or remodeled or renovated, a host of business transactions must occur. The Hard Hats Business-Building Alliance is a group of experts who: provide the products and services needed in those business transactions; work together to figure out the natural flow of those transactions; create marketing and business-building strategies to find the people in transition; trade referrals when appropriate; and rely on one another for business advice, trusted resources, and so forth.

If you want to visit a future Hard Hats meeting to determine whether the group fits you and you fit the group, contact Mike LeBlanc using any of the means specified below and ask to be invited.

Q: With what chapter of Yellow-Tie is your group affiliated?

A: We're part of the St. Louis chapter.

---

Q: What is the Hard Hats story?

A: We know from experience that whenever a commercial or residential building is built or torn down, bought or sold, rented or vacated, or remodeled or renovated, a host of business transactions must occur. The Hard Hats Business-Building Alliance is a group of experts who:

  • Provide the products and services needed in those business transactions;
  • Work together to figure out the natural flow of those transactions;
  • Create marketing and business-building strategies to find the people in transition;
  • Trade referrals when appropriate;
  • And rely on one another for business advice, trusted resources, and so forth.

Q: Within the choices of business to business (B2B), business to consumer (B2C) or both, how would you best classify the prospects to whom your members sell?

A: Members sell business to business and/or business to consumer.

---

Q: How else would you describe the prospects to whom your members sell, and/or the people you want in your group?

A: Hard Hats will be composed of people who:

  • Sell construction-related products or services to businesses or homeowners (plumbers, remodelers, new-home builders, landscapers, architects, etc.)
  • Sell products or services to the companies that buy, sell or rent commercial real estate (consulting, legal, accounting and computer services; insurance; printing; furniture; furniture moving; etc.)
  • Sell through construction-related companies (often called the "pull-through sales" model) (concrete additive suppliers, tree nurseries, landscape product suppliers, etc.)
  • Are involved in the buying and selling of real estate -- from homes to high-rises (realtors, mortgage brokers, inspectors, etc.)
  • Sell construction products directly to home owners (siding, windows, gutters, concrete landscape borders, etc.)
We want it to be a very big group!

    Q: When, where and how often does your BBA meet?

    A: See this page for meeting details.

    ---

    Q: What else do you want to tell people about your group?

    A: This group will focus on all aspects of business building, including the types of information sharing and collaboration that open doors and generate sales opportunities.

    We want people who view business building as "a profession to be mastered" and who view collaboration as an absolute necessity for success.

    And we want people who live and breathe the "give without keeping score" philosophy.

    ---

    Q: What is the most important thing potential members should know about your group?

    A: We believe strongly in honesty, giving without keeping score and having fun, while also being accountable for the commitments you make. So we want people to join if they think giving referrals, providing introductions, sharing information, providing honest feedback and working closely with the other members of our group will be great fun, but who are also willing to be held accountable for what they say they will do.
