Writers Skills-Enhancement Group (SEG)

Document Actions
Many Yellow-Tie members use writing as a means of promoting their businesses. Many more want to use writing in this way, or have other writing interests. This group brings us together for feedback, accountability, education, support and fun.

We hope this question-and-answer session with Ed Vallorani, director of the Writers SEG, will help you decide whether this Yellow-Tie group is a fit for you.

If you want to visit a future Writers SEG meeting to determine whether the group fits you and you fit the group, contact Ed Vallorani using any of the means specified below and ask to be invited.

Q: We would like to hear your story -- why did you take over this SEG?

A: Writing is becoming an increasingly important part of my marketing strategy. I figured there were others like me in Yellow-Tie, and hoped enough of us would want to study together to make this SEG function. I was thrilled to find out that was true, so the group got together and decided its purpose would be to:

  1. Enhance each individual's writing skills
  2. Explore new outlets for writing (blogs, articles, books, etc.)
  3. Support each other as we strive to effectively market our services through writing.
Yellow-Tie's philosophy of "give without keeping score" will allow each participant to bring their experience to the table. When this happens, everyone will walk away a winner.

---

Q: How would you describe the people you want in your group?

A: The Writers SEG is for anyone who believes in the value of using writing as a tool to market his/her business or services. Your particular target audience is not as important as your desire to explore new methods to use writing, and your desire to share your successes with the entire group.

---

Q: When, where and how often does your SEG meet?

A: The group will meet on the third Wednesday of every month from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Borders in Brentwood. There is no meeting cost -- you may buy your own lunch there if you like.

Meetings are by invitation only, however, so please contact me with the form below if you want to be invited.

---

Q: Who are your current members?

A: At this time, our SEG includes these people:

  • Ed Vallorani
  • Patty Cook
  • Steve Smith
  • Cindy Wagner
  • John Murry
  • Rissy Bruening
